My, how things change
So, the last time I posted, it's pretty safe to say my life was very different, for a variety of reasons. A sampling, enumerated:
I'll be posting more soon, just wanted to throw something up here to let everyone know where I am, and what's left to be done.
- I was gearing up to ride a Honda Elite 250 cross country for Cannonball
- I was excited about being a founding member of the Royal Bastards Scooter Club
- I was regularly going to rallies across the state (and occasionally, out of state)
- The Elite (Starbuck) is out of the Cannonball Run. Don't think for a second I'm not doing the Cannonball Run - it's just that Starbuck is no longer in the picture. Starbuck has been undergoing some surgery that... took longer than expected. It's over at Battlescooter getting a 12" front wheel and disc brake, along with mag wheels, a new fancy-pants exhaust, brand new suspension, and a brake re-routing so there's no longer a foot brake. This is fantastic for a variety of reasons, but just not fantastic in time for the Cannonball Run. Instead, Grace (my Vespa GT200) will be making the run with me. Definitely my trustiest of bikes, just a little disappointed the timing didn't work out.
- RBSC - there are a variety of reasons this didn't work out. Aside from pointing fingers and naming names, the short of it comes down to the fact that the club stopped being anything like what I was originally interested in being involved in. What started off a tight-knit collection of friends turned into what was ostensibly Wal-Mart. Since leaving six months ago, I personally know members who remain that have done their best to turn the club around, but I've since moved on and am focusing on a new club made by some of those first "Dieci Bastardi": the Quitters Scooter Club.
- Rallies become harder to attend when you have a little baby girl. :)
