Day 2

As with before, it's stupid early to be thinking about going cross country on a scooter. I've the distinct impression that this is going to be a pattern. And of course I have 9 more days of this, assuming my bile makes it through the race and the problem I noted yesterday does not persist.

Aaron (my partner in crime with most scooter related things) had a thought that was promising or at least comforting last night which is that it could be a carb fuel overflow thing, and that it's just gas. That actually sounds reasonable given the texture of the grime. Will have my eye put on it.

Clearly I am allergic a bit to bee stings since the area is still red and tender and there's a little brown spot at the point where the stinger went in. That bastard.

It's on to the meetings and start now.

Lee Vinning in the morning

Turns outmy class doesn't leave until 8am. Great. Not enough time to eat, but that raisesthe food issue

I'm trying to find the right balance. Yesterday all I ate all day was a pop tart (singular) and a peanut bar, at 6:20 am or so, until dinner. I should eat more to keep up my energy but at the same time I'm looking to minimize stops. Hah. Conundrum.

Terrible.

Today sucked for so many reasons. Will explain later. For now, in Utah.

Joel Hamilton's ride

Somewhere on the way to the border of California and Nevada, Joel's headset or steering bearings or something came loose. He was going pretty fast, 70s or 80s or so, an then blammo.

He kept it up for a while but ended up laying it down in the end. His bike is munged. Pretty bad. You can see the evidence yourself below.

One bike down, but the rider isn't out. He's riding Bobo's bike, as Bobo dropped out at the start of the say for personal reasons.

Both of the above are among many reasons why today has sucked.

More later.

Tag, I'm it.

Yes. I screwed up. Yes. I deserved this. Though I should say in my defense, my passing on the right was going by a dude who was making a really slow left hand and was simply not done with his turn. He was out of the lane.

I just couldn't bother to argue this point. An according to Patrick, this is not illegal in California.

Sigh. Another reason today sucked.
